First, this is a naked attempt to appeal to you, as someone who’s been interested and supportive of the independent cultural review, Fourth Door Review, to take out a subscription for the new edition of FDR no 9 (and two further editions) or to support us in other ways. If you do this you’ll help ensure the future of Fourth Door Review.
You may well know that FDR has always been a ‘labour of love’ shoestring operation. It has been run without external public grants or private funding, with each edition involving committing personal funds to keep FDR alive.
If you, like myself, believe that the overall quality, originality and relevance of FDR makes it important to maintain its unique voice in the current arts, architecture, design and crafts landscape, please help Fourth Door to continue by subscribing today.
There is now readied material both for the next edition and subsequent editions. Email FDR for further information which means that with support the next three editions will be financially underwritten.
What is needed is financial support.
Our appeal for subscriptions means that anyone taking out a subscription is not just donating, and gets a something for something subscription to FDR. If you want to support us in more traditional ways, such as donating, read on. Subscriptions are only one way of raising the funds for the next editions. This is happening in a variety of ways, some conventional, some less so:

II) Participate in FDR’s 100 in 100 subscriptions campaign
100 in 100 – This is a second plank to this campaign appeal with Fourth Door’s aiming to raise 350 subscriptions in 200 days.
We’re aiming to individually contact up to 1000 individuals who have been interested and supportive of Fourth Door Review, and putting the case for your support. Short-circuit that letter and sign up to being one of the first 100 subscribers in 100 days. We’re also targeting 500 architectural practices and 500 libraries to help build architectural and institutional subscriptions. Our longer-term aim is to build 1000 subscriptions.

The rationale is simple; subscriptions mean longer term funding.

In four different colours, you can be an Orange, Violet or Turquoise Angel.

Yes, we’re taking the Kickstarter plunge.
Help the Fourth Door campaign appeal through Internet funding campaign appeals such as Kickstarter www.kickstarter.com. We’re going to put our Kickstarter figure at a modest (and reachable) £10 000. The Kickstarter option check is coming soon
V) Help us in other ways.
You can figure this out yourself. Here are some hints though. Pass on this message and; persuade a friend to subscribe, persuade a friend’s friend to subscribe. Persuade your local library or higher education establishment to subscribe. Persuade a bookshop to stock copies. Stock copies yourself, Persuade your rich aunt to become a Turquoise angel. Persuade your publisher friend to put a million pounds into FDR. Persuade Peter Gabriel to become an Orange angel. And so on…
